What is the Basslet and how does it feel?
In short, the Basslet is a wearable subwoofer for your wrist and it feels awesome! Using a new technology for sound, the Basslet delivers the beats and basslines of the music directly to your body – so you can literally feel the music. The result is an augmented listening experience that headphones alone cannot provide.
Can I wear the Basslet somewhere other than the wrist?
Sure! We've done a lot of testing comparing one wrist versus both wrists and different locations on the body (we're music nerds and engineers, remember). We wanted to make the Basslet portable and convenient, so we designed and optimized it for a single wrist (read more about what we had to say about that here). However, the Basslet uses standard watch strap pins, you're welcome to experiment with different straps and locations on the body.
What types of devices can I use with the Basslet?
We can't wait to hear about all the ways people are using the Basslet. To get you started, you can use the Basslet with any device that connects to wired headphones with a 3.5mm jack: smartphones, laptops, music players, gaming consoles, VR headsets, DJ and studio mixers, synths, drum machines, hi-fi systems and more. Let us know how you use the Basslet.
Do I need to pair the Basslet with my device?
Nope! You can simply plug and play right out of the box.
Can I listen to any style of music with the Basslet?
Please do! We've found the Basslet works with all kinds of music – the only requirement is that it contains bass. Check out some of our favorite tracks that feel awesome with the Basslet: lofelt.com/basslet/playlist
Does the Basslet work with all types of headphones?
The Basslet works with all wired headphones with a 3.5mm jack. It doesn't work with Bluetooth headphones.
How do I turn on/off the Basslet?
To turn the Basslet on, simply push either button on the Basslet. It will turn off automatically when no music is played for 15 minutes. If you want to manually turn it off, press and hold the bottom button for a few seconds.
Is the Basslet splash proof?
Yes! The Basslet passed many industry standard tests on its way to mass production and being splash proof was one of them (test IP44). It was built to withstand daily exposure to sweat, light rain and dirt. It is not waterproof, however, and should be taken off when swimming or showering.
Can I use the Basslet if I have a pacemaker or other internal devices?
Like many electronic devices, the Basslet contains magnets and magnetic fields that may interfere with the use of pacemakers or other internal devices.
What can I do if my Basslet is not working?
The Basslet's LED indicates if something is not working as expected. If the Basslet's LED blinks red, it needs to be charged. If the Basslet blinks white once, followed by 3 red flashes, it indicates it can not find the sender and it will not receive any music signal. You can follow these steps to address this:
- Make sure the Basslet and the sender are charged and within range
- Press the button on the sender once. The white LED confirms it is operating and charged.
If the Basslet's LED still blinks white followed by three red flashes after these two steps, the Basslet and the sender are not paired.
How to pair the Basslet and the sender:
- Make sure the sender and the Basslet are within a 30 cm/1ft radius.
- Hold down the button on the sender until the LED turns blue. This indicates the sender is in pairing mode. When you release the button, the LED will turn off and flash blue every 2 seconds to confirm it is still in pairing mode.
- Hold down both buttons on the Basslet simultaneously until the LED turns blue as well. The Basslet and the sender will confirm the pairing by changing their LED to white, and the Basslet gives a short vibe feedback. They are now communicating again and the Basslet should work as expected.
Basslet LED Explained
The white LED blinks once to confirm the button press.
Three fast blinks while increasing intensity: Basslet intensity reached maximum.
Two blinks while decreasing intensity: Basslet intensity is at zero (mute).
The sender LED flashes red while music is playing. The music volume is too high and the Basslet will automatically decrease its intensity.
The LED is continuously flashing red on button press. An error has occurred:
The battery is low - connect the USB cable to the sender and attach the Basslet to the sender to charge.
The Basslet is outside the normal operating temperature.
Unable to Connect
After turning on the Basslet, the red LED blinks three times and the Basslet does not play music. The Basslet is unable to connect to the sender:
The sender may be out of range - make sure the sender is a few meters away from the Basslet.
Press a button on the sender to make sure it is charged.
Connect to a charger if button press does not result in a signal.
Your Basslet and sender are charging if the LED is constant red.
The LED is constant white on either Basslet or sender. The device is fully charged.
Note: You can use the Basslet while the sender is plugged in for charging.
Basslet Battery is Low
The LED pulses red while in use. The Basslet battery is low and should be charged. The Basslet will automatically turn off when the battery is empty.
